Kenny Roberts is still winning, more than 40 years after he hung up his helmet and steel shoe. Earlier this year, “King Kenny Roberts,” a documentary highlighting the world title-winning careers of Roberts and eldest son Kenny Jr., earned bronze Telly Awards in three categories: General Documentary: Short Form; Craft Editing; and General Branded Content.
Narrated by actor Ewan McGregor, the 16-minute film was produced by Draft, a creative agency based in Knoxville, Tennessee, in collaboration with the Roberts family, Goodwood Media, Yamaha, and the Barber Vintage Motorsports Museum. The film premiered at the 2024 Barber Vintage Festival in conjunction with the unveiling of the “World Champions” exhibit.
Founded in 1979, the Telly Awards honor excellence across all types of screens, both on and offline. Thousands of entries are received annually and reviewed by executives from television networks, production companies, agencies, immersive content studios, and streaming platforms around the world.
Draft also produced the 2023 film, “Garden of Speed: Barber Motorsports Park & Museum.” Built by George Barber in 2003, the museum and park are considered the largest philanthropic project undertaken by any individual in the history of Alabama. Carl Fogarty is typically remembered, rightly so, for winning four FIM Superbike World Championships in 1994, 1995, 1998, and 1999—all on booming Ducati V-twins. Prior to his dominating performances on the 916 and its derivatives, however, the Blackburn-born Brit tallied three consecutive TT Formula 1 titles on Honda RC30s.
Why the history lesson? Well, the Barber Vintage Motorsports Museum recently acquired the very machine on which Fogarty won the 1988 and ’89 TT F1 crowns. In those days, the Isle of Man TT was part of the TT F1 series, and Fogarty won the 1989 750cc Production race on a second RC30 that was part of the same sale.
According to Fogarty, who previously owned the championship winner, the No. 4 RC30 is fitted with a full race kit. Both Hondas are currently in the museum’s restoration shop undergoing thorough cleaning and inspection in advance of their display, which will coincide with the 20th annual Barber Vintage Festival on October 3-5.

If you could drive or ride three of the thousands of cars and motorcycles displayed in the Barber Vintage Motorsports Museum for three laps of the 17-turn, 2.38-mile Barber Motorsports Park road course, which machines would you choose and why would you choose them?
To get things rolling, so to speak, we asked Executive Director Brian Case, who has contributed both two- and four-wheel projects of his own design to the museum, for his favored trios.
Cars:
🏎️ 2024 Porsche 911 GT3 RS Weissach, because there is no substitute.
🏎️1984 Lotus 95T “John Player Special,” because of the iconic livery and the 760-horsepower turbocharged V-six.
🏎️1959 AC Aceca, because I love the classic shape of early ACs, especially the coupe.
Motorcycles:
🏍️ 1996 Britten V1000, because John Britten’s story had so much influence over me in the beginning of my motorcycle design career.
🏍️ 1992 Honda NR750, because it has oval pistons, it is one of only 300 produced, and it was not available in the U.S.
🏍️ 2020 Ducati Panigale V4 R raced by Scott Redding in WorldSBK, because it has 240 horsepower!

Nick Graveley is living, breathing proof that motorcycle design is changing before our very eyes. The U.K. native spent most of his work life sculpting clay in dedicated studios for high-profile clients such as BMW, KTM, and MV Agusta.
Graveley began his presentation to a large crowd in the Barber Advanced Design Center at the 2024 Barber Vintage Festival by explaining how he previously used his unique, hands-on skill set to craft 3D clay models into actual production motorcycles.
Traditional clay work, however, has given way to digital design, and more recently, virtual design. Graveley has changed, too. He even altered the name of his company, pivoting from “Clay Moto” to “Sculpt 3D” to reflect the evolution of his own professional identity.
At the Barber Vintage Festival, Graveley came face to face for the first time with Chris Cosentino’s Hypermono and Brian Wismann’s Lightfighter, two in-the-flesh machines that Graveley had previously only seen and labored on in a virtual space.
“Any designer that I’ve worked with in Gravity Sketch,” says Graveley, “now cannot go backward. It’s such an incredible tool.” Follow the link in our bio to watch as Graveley walks viewers through this astounding technological advancement.
